Bandits Kill Six Soldiers, Abduct Over 70 Residents in Zamfara Community

Suspected bandits have reportedly killed at least six soldiers and abducted more than 70 residents during a late-night attack on Kasuwar Daji community in Kaura-Namoda Local Government Area of Zamfara State.
According to local sources, the attackers stormed the community at about 11:30 p.m. on Saturday after allegedly overrunning a military outpost stationed in the area.
Residents said the gunmen opened fire, killing six soldiers before attacking several shops, looting food items, drinks, and other valuables. The assailants reportedly abducted over 70 residents and took them into the bush.
A resident, Alhaji Aminu Kasuwar Daji, described the attack as devastating, calling on both the Zamfara State Government and the Federal Government to urgently address the worsening insecurity in the state.
“We are living in fear. If bandits can overpower soldiers and carry out such an operation, then ordinary citizens are no longer safe,” he said.
Former Deputy Speaker of the Zamfara State House of Assembly, Hon. Namadi Kasuwar Daji, also confirmed that the community was attacked. Although he was outside the state at the time, he said relatives informed him that the bandits killed soldiers, looted shops, and abducted an unspecified number of residents.
