Argentina has successfully defended their Copa America title after a thrilling victory over Colombia, courtesy of Lautaro Martinez’s late strike in the pulsating 120-minute match at Hard Rock Stadium in Miami Gardens, FL.
The intense game, which ended 0-0 in regular time, extended into a 30-minute extra time. Surprisingly, Colombia slightly outperformed Argentina, having more shots on goal and maintaining greater possession. However, they conceded just three minutes before the end of the 120-minute encounter due to a goal by the Inter Milan captain, ending what could have been a historic moment for them.
Over the past four years, Argentina has been unstoppable, winning all major tournaments they’ve participated in. In 2021, they secured their first major trophy in 28 years by lifting the Copa America. They then conquered the world by defeating France in the 2022 FIFA World Cup in Qatar, and now they have once again claimed the Copa America title.
