Confusion In Plateau As Constituents Threaten To Storm Assembly Complex Alongside Sacked PDP Lawmakers Ahead Of Plenary

Following the recent Supreme Court judgment that restored the mandate of the Plateau state governor Caleb Mutfwang, calls have been intensified  by stakeholders of the People’s Democratic Party PDP for a review on the Appeal Court judgment that earlier sacked 16 lawmakers in the state.

Speaking on AriseNews Morning Show on Friday 19 January 2024, the former Speaker of the Plateau state House of Assembly Istifanus Mwansat who stated that the development in Plateau state is novel and gaining more public interest expressed hope that the sacked lawmakers would be reinstated.

While lamenting on the lower court’s judgment that affirmed the APC lawmakers in the state, Mwansat wondered if they would be representing the court or the electorates who actually voted them into office.

He maintained that with the unjust judgment delivered by the Appeal Court, there was no need to have the Courts of Appeal in the first place since there are Federal High courts and the Supreme. He also appealed that all post electoral cases be treated up to the Supreme Court level.

The Former Speaker expressed fear over plans by constituents of the sacked PDP lawmakers who are threatening to storm the Assembly complex alongside their sacked Representatives upon resumption of plenary billed for Tuesday 23 January 2024.
