Coalition expresses support for GOC 1 Division and troops amid Kaduna Forest killings

—

A group of 15 organizations, not run by the government, that want peace and unity in Northern Nigeria is telling people to be careful not to do things that might make the Nigerian Army troops, who are working to bring peace, feel less confident. This comes after 11 bodies were found in the Kaduna forest.

The main group leading this effort is called the Global Peace and Life Rescue Initiative (GOPRI). They are worried about accusations against the troops for being involved in the killing of Fulani people.

During a visit to the crime scene and Fulani community in Kaduna, they stressed the importance of staying calm in the Fulani community and promised that justice will be done in this sad event.

The group supports Major General V.O Okoro, who is in charge of the troops, and all the soldiers.

They praised the military’s professionalism and dedication in dealing with banditry and crime in the area.

In a statement by Amb. Melvin Ejeh, the leader of the group and Executive Director of GOPRI, they said the accusations against the troops don’t have enough proof.

They visited Tilde Fulani in Laduga grazing reserve in Kaduna State and found no connection to the soldiers.

The group is asking the Fulani community to stay calm and is promising to help them get justice.

They don’t like the idea of unnamed groups planning protests, calling them troublemakers and telling them to stop.

Amb. Melvin Ejeh talked to the community and warned them not to let politicians or troublemakers manipulate them.

He stressed the importance of not damaging the reputation of the Nigerian Army. He mentioned that there is an ongoing investigation, and justice will be done.

Ejeh also talked about the risk of making the troops feel less confident with accusations that haven’t been proven yet.

The Village Head of Tilde Fulani, Alhaji Mohamadu Yusuf, thanked the group and promised that the community won’t do anything more to avoid interfering with the investigation. He said they all want justice and believe it will happen in the end.
