Chelsea and Manchester City share the spoils in an eight-goal thriller

Chelsea vs Manchester

In what many have predicted to be an easy encounter for City, Chelsea displayed a surprising performance at home holding Manchester City to a 4-4 draw at Stamford Bridge.

First Half:

It was an impressive start for Chelsea, who took control of the game not until the 23rd minute when Marc Cucurella dragged Erling Haaland into his goalkeeper’s box. City was awarded a penalty after the VAR review, which was easily converted by Erling Haaland. Thiago Silva returned Chelsea to the game following his brilliant heading which went beyond the reach of the City goalkeeper in the 28th minute. Chelsea’s resilience continued after Raheem Sterling scored, extending their lead to 2-1 in the 37th minute.

Second Half:
Erling Haaland completed his brace giving his side a 3-2 lead just a minute into the second half. Nicholas Jackson leveled for Chelsea in the 67th minute in the highly pulsating encounter. Rodri stepped up, scoring what seemed to be a winner for City in the 87th minute. It was not over for Chelsea who were determined to earn points and of course, they did after Cole Palmer converted from the spot kick as both teams shared the spoils in the 8-goal thriller match.

Chelsea moved to the mid-table with 16 points, while City remained on top of the log with 28 points.
