Former Vice-President Atiku Abubakar has emerged winner of the presidential primary election of the African Democratic Congress, securing the party’s ticket ahead of the 2027 presidential race.
The returning officer for the exercise, Tunde Ogbeha, announced the result on Wednesday night, declaring Abubakar winner after a landslide performance at the poll.
Abubakar garnered 1,846,370 votes to defeat his closest rivals, Rotimi Amaechi and Mohammed Hayatu-Deen.
Amaechi polled 504,117 votes, while Hayatu-Deen secured 177,120 votes in the keenly contested primary.
