A member of the Lagos State Governor’s Advisory Council (GAC), Akanni Seriki, has urged members of the All Progressives Congress (APC) to put aside their differences and work together to secure victory for all the party’s candidates in the 2027 general elections.
Speaking in an interview with the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) on Thursday in Lagos, Seriki said the conclusion of the party’s primary elections should mark the beginning of reconciliation, calling on all aspirants to accept the outcome and support the party’s candidates.
According to him, individual ambitions should give way to the collective interest of the APC.
“The primary election has come and gone. Every aspirant must accept the outcome in good faith and join hands with the party’s candidates to ensure victory at the polls.
“What is important now is the success of the APC and not individual ambition,” he said.
Seriki stressed that the party’s success should remain the priority of every member, regardless of the office they sought during the primaries.
“Our collective goal should be the victory of the APC. Every member must put the party first and work tirelessly to mobilise support for all our candidates at every level,” he added.
The APC chieftain described the party as one united family, insisting that members must respect party supremacy and remain committed to its ideals.
“The strength of the APC lies in its unity. We must respect the decisions of the party, uphold party supremacy and remain committed to its ideals. That is the only way we can sustain our electoral successes,” he said.
He also called on party leaders and stakeholders to intensify reconciliation efforts to heal divisions, promote inclusiveness and strengthen the APC ahead of the elections.
“Leaders of the party have a responsibility to bring everyone together. Reconciliation, dialogue and inclusiveness are essential to building a stronger and more united APC,” he said.
Seriki expressed confidence that the achievements recorded by APC administrations at the federal and state levels would serve as a major campaign advantage.
“Our administration has implemented programmes and policies that have positively impacted the lives of Nigerians. We should confidently present these achievements to the electorate and seek renewed support,” he said.
He further urged party members to conduct peaceful campaigns, avoid inflammatory rhetoric and comply with electoral regulations.
“As members of a responsible political party, we must campaign with decorum, respect opposing views and ensure that peace prevails before, during and after the elections,” he said.
Expressing optimism about the party’s prospects, Seriki said the APC would record widespread victories across the country if members remained united, disciplined and committed to the party’s collective vision.
“With unity, discipline and commitment, I have no doubt that the APC will record overwhelming victories across the states.
“Together, we can achieve greater success for our party and for Nigeria,” he said.
