Asake Fans Slam ₦300,000 Ticket Price for Lagos Concert

Asake’s scheduled homecoming concert in Lagos has drawn widespread criticism after organisers announced that tickets would be sold for as high as ₦300,000.

The concert, billed as part of FlyTime Fest 2025, was expected to be a major return for the Afrobeats star in his home city.

On social media platforms including X, Instagram and TikTok, fans expressed disappointment and anger, arguing that the cost contradicts Asake’s image as an artist closely connected to working-class listeners.

One fan wrote:

“So Nigerians are paying $200 just to stand and watch Asake, while people abroad get seats for under $100? How do you overcharge the people who built the fanbase?”

Another user posted:

“I really wanted to go for Asake’s show but 300k is too ridiculous.”

Several fans also compared the ticket price with international concert costs. A X user commented:

“Asake concert is ₦300k, while in the US you might pay under $100 and see several top artists. This does not make sense.”

Weekend passes for FlyTime Fest reportedly start from lower amounts, but the ₦300,000 ticket is the highest-priced category for Asake’s performance.

Some event observers say the price is due to the expenses related to security, equipment, power supply, and stage production as reasons behind higher ticket fees. FlyTime Fest has promoted itself in recent years as a premium live entertainment brand, with prices increasing gradually at each edition.

However, critics argue that the decision risks damaging Asake’s relationship with his Nigerian fanbase as many fans expected a more affordable event, especially because the concert had been described as a “homecoming.”

Fan pages dedicated to Asake warned that dissatisfaction over pricing could reduce attendance and harm the festival’s image if the issue is not addressed.

As of Monday, December 1, the organisers had not announced any change to the ticket structure.
