Eintracht Frankfurt have completed the signing of Nigerian midfielder Raphael Onyedika from Belgian side Club Brugge, handing the 25 year old a contract until June 2031.
Frankfurt sporting director Markus Krösche spoke of player’s attractiveness for the club, adding that the club was impressed by Onyedika’s physicality, tactical awareness and consistency, which earned him a place in the first team in Belgium.
The News Chronicle reports that Onyedika joins the Bundesliga side with significant experience, having made 268 senior appearances and featured 24 times in the UEFA Champions League over the past three seasons.
Krösche also highlighted the midfielder’s potential to improve further, describing him as an important addition to Frankfurt’s squad structure.
Onyedika has lived in Belgium for four years and has been one of Brugge’s most utilized players, recording 40, 49, 52 and 42 appearances in his four seasons.
The defensive midfielder has won the Belgian league title twice, as well as the Belgian Cup and Super Cup. In addition, he has previously won the Danish Cup with FC Midtjylland.
At the international level, Onyedika has scored 26 goals for Nigeria and was part of the Super Eagles team that finished as runners-up at the 2024 Africa Cup of Nations.
The transfer to Germany marks another step in the player’s impressive European career.
