Apple To Sack 100 Employees Ahead of iPhone 16 Launch

Apple is set to sack nearly 100 employees from its Services division ahead of the highly anticipated iPhone 16 launch on September 9.
The affected teams include those working on the Apple Books app and Apple Bookstore, both of which fall under the oversight of Senior Vice President Eddy Cue’s services group.
According to internal sources, employees were notified of the layoffs on Tuesday.
However, Apple has yet to make an official public announcement regarding these job cuts.
The layoffs are part of a broader reorganization effort within the company, reflecting a shift in priorities towards artificial intelligence (AI).
Despite plans for future updates, Apple Books has been deprioritized in the company’s strategic roadmap.
Apple’s total workforce includes approximately 161,000 full-time employees as of September 30, 2023.
This recent round of layoffs follows previous cuts, including the elimination of over 600 positions in California in April.
Several projects, such as an electric vehicle initiative and a high-end Vision headset, were also canceled as part of Apple’s pivot towards AI-driven endeavors.
