The National Chairman of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Nentawe Yilwatda, on Saturday visited victims of the recent attack in Angwan Rukuba, Jos North Local Government Area of Plateau State, currently receiving treatment at the Jos University Teaching Hospital.
Yilwatda, who was accompanied by his wife, Dr. Martina Yilwatda, described the incident as barbaric and unacceptable, stressing that the violence represented a direct assault on the nation’s shared humanity. He said stakeholders must move beyond routine condemnation and work collectively to prevent further attacks.
Speaking during the visit, the APC chairman said the pain of the victims and their families must be shared by all Nigerians of conscience, noting that no society can make meaningful progress when citizens live in fear and uncertainty.
He added that the administration of President Bola Tinubu remains committed to restoring peace and strengthening security operations across the country.
As a gesture of compassion, Yilwatda announced a donation of N15 million to support victims of the Angwan Rukuba attack and other vulnerable patients receiving care at the hospital.
He explained that the funds would help ease medical expenses and provide relief to those dealing with injuries, trauma, and financial hardship.
The APC chairman also commiserated with families of those who lost their lives, praying for the repose of the deceased and strength for their loved ones.
He commended the management and medical personnel of the hospital for their prompt response and professionalism in treating the victims.
During his visit, Yilwatda also paid condolences to the Paramount Ruler of Jos North, the Ujah Anaguta, urging leaders, communities, and security agencies to unite against violence.
He emphasized that the tragedy should serve as a wake-up call for stronger intelligence gathering, deeper community engagement, and sustained security intervention.
Yilwatda further called on political, traditional, and religious leaders, as well as youth groups and civil society organizations, to reject hatred and division.
He maintained that Plateau State’s diversity and strategic importance must not be overshadowed by recurring violence.
He reaffirmed that the APC and the Federal Government remain committed to restoring peace, strengthening security, and ensuring that such incidents do not reoccur.
