We’re Still Paying Debts Incurred By Obi, Obiano — Anambra Govt

The Anambra State Government has said Governor Charles Soludo’s administration is still servicing loans and other financial obligations inherited from previous administrations, including those of former governors Peter Obi and Willie Obiano.

The state government, while speaking on the financial obligations inherited by the present administration, said Soludo’s government had continued to shoulder debts incurred before it assumed office.

“Governor Soludo’s administration is still repaying loans and other debts incurred by previous administrations, including those of Peter Obi and Willie Obiano,” the government said.

It said the inherited obligations have remained part of the state’s financial commitments, even as the Soludo administration continues to fund ongoing projects and implement its development programmes.

The disclosure is expected to fuel fresh debate over Anambra’s debt profile and the financial legacies left by successive administrations, particularly as political attention intensifies ahead of the 2027 elections.

The government maintained that the financial burden inherited by the Soludo administration should be taken into account when assessing its fiscal performance and ability to execute new projects.
