Nigerian TikTok stars Peller and Jarvis are two weeks away from their white wedding, and both of them have been talking openly about what it takes to get there, with renowned activist Verydarkman giving the duo a nod.
The couple got engaged in June 2026 and held their traditional wedding in Benin City, Edo State, last month. Their white wedding is set for August 1, 2026.
Peller has not held back about his expectations for the day. In comments shared this week, he said, “If you’re a musician and you don’t come to my wedding, I’ll stop listening to your music. If you’re an actor and you don’t come to my wedding, I’ll stop watching your movies or come to your movie premiere, and you know who I am in the industry.” He also spoke about the scale he has in mind for the celebration, saying he wished he could arrange for a public holiday so people could stay home and celebrate with him, and mentioned wanting to buy a house in Ikoyi as a wedding gift before deciding on a property in the UK instead.
Jarvis, whose full name is Amadou Elizabeth Aminata, has taken a more cautionary tone. Speaking during a livestream on Thursday, she told young Nigerians, “If you don’t have money, don’t get married. Don’t try it, I beg you.” She encouraged couples under financial pressure to spread their ceremonies out, doing the traditional wedding one year and the white wedding the next. She also admitted the pressure nearly got to them. “We almost postponed our wedding, but even if we put it in the next 50 years, we are never going to prepare for the wedding,” she said.
On Friday morning, VeryDarkMan, known online as VDM, shared his excitement for the couple in an Instagram story. He wrote that Peller’s wedding to Jarvis “will be epic” and that he was “really excited for them,” adding that Peller getting married in his early twenties is “what a lot of people prayed for.” He also asked, half in jest, whether he needed to prepare payment for his asoebi.
In a separate video, VDM said he expected the wedding to be lively, describing it as a “full cruise” and predicting Peller would “cut cake before they say he should” and start eating before instructed. He said, “I’m happy for him and Jarvis; I never see myself getting married.”
The remarks stood out partly because of VDM’s history with Peller, whom he has criticized in the past. However, reactions online have run the gamut. Some fans defended the couple’s right to celebrate as they choose. One X user, @azeezibrahim3, wrote that Peller has the means to provide for Jarvis and only needs “wisdom and patience to lead as husband.” Others questioned the scale of the celebration. @Foxyblueu argued that young men often overcommit emotionally and financially in relationships built on public attention. A user going by @MEA_Tribe suggested Peller “lower his expectations,” arguing that a month after the wedding, much of the online attention will have moved on.
Peller’s ultimatum to absent celebrities also drew mixed responses. Some users mocked the idea that his invitation carries real weight in the industry, while others pointed out that his online reach, whatever people think of his approach, keeps him at the center of conversation. As one fan stated, @Oluwadamil2045, no matter where people stand on him, “you must talk about him.”
