Truecaller, the popular caller ID app, has rolled out real-time caller information for iPhone users.
This update is made possible by the introduction of Live Caller ID Lookup in iOS 18, allowing third-party apps like Truecaller to securely access caller data from their servers.
Previously, iPhone users could not receive live caller ID updates, a feature Android users had enjoyed.
Truecaller’s iOS app update marks a significant change, following the company’s co-founders’ decision to step down in November 2024.
The app now delivers real-time caller identification through a secure, encrypted database, allowing calls to be processed quickly.
Truecaller also built a new server architecture to sync its iOS and Android databases while ensuring data security.
Truecaller continues to prioritize its iOS app, which accounts for a substantial portion of its revenue.
As the company faces competition from services like CNAP in India, it aims to improve its caller ID feature to better cater to local needs.
Though the new feature works in most cases, there may be slight delays due to the time-consuming encryption process.
Truecaller offers various subscription plans for its premium services, starting at $9.99 per month for individuals.
