Good Morning! In today’s trending news stories:

1. As the world celebrates World Mental Health Day today, the World Health Organization has called out mental health as a global concern that affects everyone. It said “Mental health is a universal human right ” and urged member states as well as WHO partners to speed efforts in promoting mental health by applying a human-rights-based approach.

2. Israel’s continual attack on Gaza through the night has displaced more than 100,000 following their latest escalation of air strikes. However, Hamas fired back in response that for every airstrike fired at Gaza civilians without warning, a hostage would be killed. So far, at least 920 Israelis have been killed since the conflict began, and more than 680 Palestinians. While the White House was lit up in white and blue to show solidarity with Israel, in Australia, the scene was different, with hundreds of protesters showing up wearing black, red, and green to chant ‘Free Palestinians.’

3. Since the Israel-Palestinian Conflict began, different nations have spoken out their support for either of these nations. While the World Power, the United States of America has voiced support for Israel including the United Kingdom, and Germany, amongst others, Iran and North Korea have blamed Israel for the war. 4. Bola Tinubu, the President, has given his approval for the appointment of five new aides to join the Media and Publicity Directorate within the Office of the President. He urged the new appointees to maintain the standards of decorum and decency in their involvement with the general public – as they work on rejuvenating hope among Nigerians within a restructured economy and a unified society.

5. Justice Donatus Okorowo of the Federal High Court, Abuja, has disqualified Chief Timipre Sylva, the All Progressives Congress (APC) governorship candidate from those running on Saturday, November 11 election in Bayelsa state. The decision was made on the ground that he had already spent eight years in office as governor of the state. 

6. In spite of the recent Israel-Palestinian Conflict, flights between Lagos and Tel Aviv Airport in Israel are still ongoing. Ethiopian Airlines and Qatar Airways, the airlines that link Nigeria to Israel confirmed this. Susan Akporiaye, the President of the National Association of Nigeria Travel Agencies, explained that this is due to the fact that some parts of Israel were not impacted by the crisis. She noted that as long as the borders remained open, no flight cancellations would be made.

7. Saudi Arabia has continued its pursuit of hosting the 2034 FIFA World Cup   In a statement from the President of the Saudi Arabian Football Federation, Yasser Al Misehal, he affirmed that their official submission marks another step in their ongoing journey to transform the aspirations of their nation into a tangible reality, following their recent announcement of ambitions to host the tournament.
