Tragic Road Accident in Bauchi Claims Four Lives, N1.5 Million Recovered

In a sad incident in Bauchi State, four people passed away in a terrible road accident, as reported by the Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC). This happened on Saturday in Rinji, Toro Local Government Area, in the North-Eastern State.

The accident involved two vehicles, a Mercedes Benz with registration number AK808AA and a Volkswagen Opel Vectra with registration number TFB675RC.

Among the eight passengers in these vehicles, four lost their lives – one woman and three men. The other four passengers survived but with various injuries.

The FRSC Corps Public Education Officer, Jonas Agwu, provided details about the accident. He also mentioned that the rescue team discovered N1.5 million belonging to the victims.

Agwu expressed worries about the increasing number of traffic violations caused by trailers carrying passengers. To address this issue, the FRSC Corps Marshal, Dauda Ali Biu, formed a Joint Task Force.

This force aims to catch and prosecute those responsible for such violations. It comprises personnel from various agencies like the Nigeria Police Force, Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC), State Traffic Management Agencies, and FRSC operatives.

The Joint Task Force’s establishment is happening in stages. Initially, it will focus on monitoring the Kaduna-Abuja Expressway. The team was officially commissioned at Kakau Toll Gate, Kaduna State, on Saturday.

During the commissioning event, Assistant Corps Marshal, Federal Operations, ACM Zubairu Mato, represented the Corps Marshal. He highlighted the critical role of the Joint Task Force in ensuring road safety.

Biu shared his concerns about recent road traffic accidents involving trailers carrying goods, animals, and people. These incidents highlight the need for stricter enforcement of road safety regulations.
