Traditional ruler in Bauchi kidnapped and killed by unidentified gunmen

—

In the village of Riruwai, located in the Lame District of Bauchi Emirate, Toro Local Government Area (LGA) of Bauchi State, there is deep sadness and mourning.

This sorrow stems from the tragic events that unfolded involving the traditional leader, Alhaji Garba Badamasi.

On Friday, the 15th of March 2024, the village was struck by a horrifying incident. Gunmen, suspected to be kidnappers, arrived in the village and created chaos by firing guns indiscriminately.

This act of violence spread fear among the residents as the attackers carried out their cruel intentions.

During the chaos, the gunmen targeted the palace where the respected Village Head resided.

They abducted him and took him away to an unknown place. This sudden disappearance left the community in despair and uncertainty.

Sadly, Badamasi endured a terrifying ordeal at the hands of his captors for a day before meeting a tragic end.

His lifeless body was later discovered, discarded near the village, indicating the brutality of the crime committed against him.

This heinous act not only deprived Riruwai of a revered leader but also deeply shook the entire community.

As investigations into the incident progress, residents mourn the loss of their beloved leader and demand justice for the senseless violence inflicted upon their village.

After an extensive search, the body was found by those who ventured into the bush around the village.

Subsequently, his remains were brought to the palace of the District Head of Lame in Gumau on Sunday, the 17th of March, for funeral prayers and burial in accordance with Islamic customs.

One of the traditional title holders of the village confirmed these events and offered prayers for the departed leader, asking Allah to grant him eternal rest in Aljanat firdausi.

Despite attempts to obtain official confirmation from the State Police Command, as of the time of reporting on Monday, there has been no response from the Public Relations Officer (PPRO), SP Ahmed Wakili, to phone calls, SMS messages, or WhatsApp messages sent to his mobile number.
