The Minister of Information and National Orientation, Mohammed Idris, has said the Federal Government’s industrialisation policies under President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s Renewed Hope Agenda are creating jobs, promoting innovation, and expanding economic opportunities across Nigeria.
Idris made the statement on Tuesday during a visit by the Presidential Communications Team to the headquarters of the National Agency for Science and Engineering Infrastructure (NASENI) in Abuja.
According to the minister, the visit was part of efforts to provide Nigerians with first-hand information on government projects and programmes, enabling citizens to assess the implementation and impact of key initiatives under the Renewed Hope Agenda.
He said direct engagement between government institutions and the public promotes transparency and accountability while allowing citizens to verify progress in industrial development, job creation, and technological innovation.
Idris described NASENI as a strategic institution at the forefront of Nigeria’s industrial transformation through science, engineering, and technology. He noted that the agency’s work spans local manufacturing, renewable energy, modern agriculture, digital technology, and workforce development.
He said the Federal Government’s long-term objective is to build a sustainable and self-reliant economy driven by innovation, value addition to locally produced goods, and enhanced industrial competitiveness.
“The goal is to transform Nigeria from a nation that largely consumes imported products into one that manufactures, innovates, and exports competitive products,” Idris said.
The minister added that industrial development, technology, and youth empowerment remain key pillars of the Renewed Hope Agenda, with government efforts focused on creating an enabling environment for investment, business growth, and sustainable employment.
He also commended NASENI’s leadership and staff for advancing indigenous technology and engineering solutions aimed at strengthening local production capacity and reducing dependence on imported goods.
Earlier, NASENI’s Executive Vice Chairman and Chief Executive Officer, Khalil Suleiman Halilu, said the agency is implementing an industrialisation strategy focused on local manufacturing, technology transfer, healthcare innovation, and the commercialisation of scientific research.
Halilu disclosed that NASENI’s programmes now cover eight major industrial sectors, with projects spread across Nigeria’s six geopolitical zones and the Federal Capital Territory.

He said the agency is committed to building sustainable industries by producing goods tailored to local market needs, increasing local content, and developing globally competitive manufacturing capacity. According to him, NASENI has established more than 20 factories within a relatively short period.
The event was attended by senior government officials, including the President’s Special Adviser on Information and Strategy, Bayo Onanuga; Special Adviser on Media and Public Communications, Sunday Dare; Special Adviser on Policy Coordination, Hadiza Bala Usman; Senior Special Assistant on Media and Publicity, Temitope Ajayi; Senior Special Assistant on Public Affairs and Stakeholder Engagement, Abdulaziz Abdulaziz; and other government representatives.
