President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has extended warm greetings to Muslims in Nigeria and across the world as the Islamic New Year, 1st Muharram 1448AH, begins on Monday, June 16, 2026.
In his message, the President marked the occasion by reflecting on the enduring lessons of the Hijrah—the historic migration from Makkah to Madinah that forms the foundation of the Islamic calendar. He highlighted its core values of sacrifice, renewal, patience, and trust in divine guidance as principles vital to nation-building.
Tinubu urged Nigerians, particularly the Muslim faithful, to embrace the new Hijri year with renewed commitment to good citizenship, calling for greater acts of kindness, tolerance, honesty, and dedication to duty.
He said these values remain essential to strengthening national unity, enhancing security, and driving sustainable development.
The President prayed for a year filled with peace, blessings, and prosperity for all households, asking for divine guidance for Nigeria as it pursues progress and stability.
