Vice President Kashim Shettima on Thursday formally submitted the presidential nomination form of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu for a second term at the national headquarters of the ruling All Progressives Congress.
The presentation was held at the Bola Ahmed Tinubu International Conference Centre and attended by serving and former governors, federal lawmakers, and senior party stakeholders.
Speaking after the submission on Thursday evening, Shettima described Tinubu as a resilient leader whose administration has guided Nigeria through economic challenges under the “Renewed Hope” agenda. He said the government’s reforms, though initially difficult, are beginning to deliver positive outcomes and support national recovery.
According to the Vice President, the President’s experience in office has further strengthened his leadership capacity ahead of a possible second term.
Receiving the nomination documents, APC National Chairman Nentawe Yilwatda said the party’s endorsement reflected growing confidence in the administration’s economic and governance reforms, which he noted are helping to restore investor confidence in the country.
Also speaking, Speaker of the House of Representatives Tajudeen Abbas praised the administration’s policy direction, describing it as a foundation for sustainable national development.
Chairman of the Progressive Governors’ Forum and Governor of Imo State, Hope Uzodinma, led other APC governors in endorsing Tinubu’s second-term bid. Governors from Plateau State, Ogun State, Niger State, Kaduna State, Ondo State, Katsina State, Borno State, Cross River State, Taraba State, Yobe State, Nasarawa State and Bayelsa State were also present at the event.
The formal submission effectively ends speculation surrounding Tinubu’s re-election ambition and signals a united front within the APC ahead of the party’s primaries.
Party leaders urged members to mobilise support for the President, describing the move as part of efforts to sustain national development and secure Nigeria’s future.
