Threads Introduces Hashtags

Meta Launches Threads In Europe
Threads

Meta’s social network Threads has unveiled a new feature allowing users to tag their posts without the hash symbol. These tags categorize content, and users can assign one topic per post to avoid tag spam.

The tag feature underwent testing in Australia and is now being rolled out globally.
Unlike hashtags, users can utilize phrases with spaces and special characters within these tags.
These tags function as clickable links, enabling users to view all related posts or search for them directly using the search bar.
While users can manually add hashtags, they are encouraged to embrace the new tag system.
Instagram head, Adam Mosseri, expressing optimism, hoping the design will curb engagement hacking.
Although Threads lacks a trending section, it highlights popular tags, simplifying their addition.
For sensitive topics, reporting options encompass various categories like spam, bullying, scam, eating disorders, and hate speech.
Users might receive warnings related to sensitive tags based on previous reports, although the specific threshold for triggering these warnings remains unclear.
In a bid to enhance the search feature, Threads expanded its support to encompass “all languages” globally and is planning a launch in the EU.
Recent data from Apptopia shows a rebound in Threads’ daily downloads after a decline, signaling positive traction for the platform’s updates and enhancements.
