Worn-out Palestinians Attempt to Flee Rafah Amidst Crisis

Human Rights Watch

Following Israel’s seizure of the vital Rafah crossing on the border with Egypt, several Palestinians are moving into central Gaza by the thousands, mainly to Deir el-Balah city.

The UN secretary-general warned that an Israeli’s seizure of Rafah could be “a strategic mistake, a political calamity, and a humanitarian nightmare.”

“With each day that Israeli authorities block life-saving aid, more Palestinians are at risk of dying,” Human Rights Watch said of the situation.

According to Gaza’s Government Media Office, a third mass grave, with at least 49 bodies, has been discovered in Gaza City’s al-Shifa Hospital.

The United States’ CIA director, William Burns, is currently in Israel to discuss with Israeli PM Netanyahu regarding ongoing truce negotiations with Hamas.

Since Gaza’s October 7 attack, at least 34,844 people have been killed and 78,404 wounded in Israeli attacks on Gaza while 1,139 Israelis are still being held captive.
