Telegram to start ad revenue sharing in March 2024

Telegram, a social media network, has declared that it will introduce its advertising platform in March 2024, enabling channel owners to get paid.

Pavel Durov, the creator and CEO of Telegram, revealed this on Wednesday through his Telegram channel. Durov claims that the business will use toncoin on the TON blockchain to distribute rewards.

Owners of channels will begin to receive 50% of all money made by the business from the placement of advertisements in their channels.

Users can broadcast public messages to huge audiences using Telegram channels. According to Durov, 10% of the one trillion views that broadcast channels on Telegram receive each month are made possible by the platform’s advertising mechanism, Telegram Ads.

“Next month, channel owners on Telegram can start receiving financial rewards from their work,” stated Durov in the Telegram message announcing the agreement.

“Every month, 1 trillion views are generated via Telegram broadcast channels. Only 10% of these views are now made money through Telegram Ads, a privacy-focused advertising technology.”

“The Telegram Ad Platform will be formally available to all marketers in about a hundred new countries in March. 50% of all money that Telegram makes by showing advertisements in their channels will now go to the channel owners in these nations.”

“We will only use the TON blockchain to guarantee quick and safe ad payments and withdrawals. We plan to sell advertisements and split the proceeds with Toncoin channel owners, much like how we do with Telegram usernames on Fragment.”

“Content producers will be able to either cash out their Toncoins or reinvest them in marketing and channel upgrades as a result, creating a positive feedback loop.”
