Squid Game 2 premieres today on Netflix

Squid Game: The Challenge, the competition series based on the hit Netflix show, Squid Game has started premiering on Wednesday, November 22.

In 2021, the series which took Hwang Dong-hyuk, 16 years to write,  became the most-watched show in Netflix’s history.

The synopsis for the competition series reads: “Inspired by the TV series, “Squid Game. In the series, contestants in real life engage in a series of high-stakes children’s games, vying for a $4.56 million cash prize. As they navigate the challenges, their strategies are tested, and competitors who lose a round are gradually eliminated.

Although no killings were experienced for sure in The Challenge, there were reports of some contestants requiring medical attention during filming in the UK. The series will run in 10 weekly episodes,

While several notable actors from Squid Game won’t be present in Squid Game 2, the main protagonist, Seong Gi-hun (Lee Jung-jae), also known as Player 456, will make a return in the upcoming season. Additionally, Front Man (Lee Byung-hun), Gong Yoo, and Hwang Jun Ho (Wi Ha-joon) are set to be part of Squid Game 2.

Based on reports by What’s on Netflix, Squid Game’s second season will begin filming in July 2023 and continue for 10 months – which means Squid Game 2 may be out in late 2024.
