2023 has been a good year for Davido, He has been on a roll from his album topping charts globally, to selling out shows and welcoming his twin babies and now having a day dedicated to celebrate and remember him is definitely an icing on the cake.
American mayor of Atlanta, Andre Dickens, has acknowledged the Nigerian-American artist David Adeleke, better known by his stage name, Davido, for his contribution to Atlanta’s entertainment industry.
After the OBO crooner’s A.W.A.Y Festival headline performance at Atlanta’s State Farm Arena, the Mayor and Atlanta City Council proclaimed November 18 as “Davido Day” in honor of the musician.
On November 21, 2023, the singer’s birthday, the Mayor wrote to the musician expressing his gratitude for what he has done and is doing in the entertainment industry as well as helping other people through his philanthropic acts.
The letter reads:
“Thank you for your tireless efforts as a renowned singer, songwriter, producer, business leader, philanthropist, and community advocate. Throughout your remarkable career, you’ve amassed an incredible number of accolades and continue to use your platform to give back to communities in the United States and throughout Africa.”
The Atlanta City Council had already declared November 18, 2023, to be Davido Day in the City of Atlanta. This was stated in a statement sent out by the council members on behalf of the city’s residents.
The Board of Commissioners for the Fulton Council has also honored Davido in the meantime.
The Board has declared November 21 to be “Davido Appreciation Day” in Fulton County, Georgia.
Davido deserves all this and more for his incredible contribution to the growth of Afrobeats and of course his philanthropic acts to the society.

The board statement reads:
“Be it resolved, That the Fulton County Board of Commissioners recognizes David for his contributions to the music and entertainment industry, and does hereby proclaim Tuesday, November 21, 2023 ‘Davido Appreciation Day’ in Fulton County, Gourgia,”
