Simi Opens Up About Overcoming Stage Fright

Nigerian singer Simi, whose full name is Simisola Kosoko, recently talked about how she deals with stage fright.

Simi shared that performing a new song live for the first few times feels like “trying on a new pair of shoes that needs adjustments.” She explained that she has to give her brain time to get used to the song so she can overcome her nervousness.

Posting a video of herself rehearsing a song from her latest album, “Lost And Found,” on instagram, Simi wrote: “The first few times I perform a new song live, it feels like trying on new shoes that need adjustments. Maybe it’s because of my bad history with stage fright. I need to give my brain time to bond with the song so it can ignore my nerves.”

She added, “I kept rehearsing this song a lot because it was my first time performing it on stage, and I was nervous. But after a few more tries, my brain will take over, and the nerves will go away.”

She concluded by saying that practice helps her feel more comfortable on stage and that overcoming stage fright is a gradual process.
