Retired principal kidnapped in Kaduna while paying ransom for another victim

In a troubling development within the ongoing kidnapping crisis in Kaduna State, a retired school principal, who had volunteered to deliver ransom for a kidnapped victim, finds himself in a distressing situation.

Senator Shehu Sani brought attention to this incident on Tuesday, expressing deep concern over the escalating boldness and reach of kidnappers in the region.

The unnamed retired principal was carrying out the noble act of delivering ransom money on behalf of another victim’s family in the Birnin Gwari Local Government Area of the state.

Unfortunately, he fell prey to the same gang responsible for the initial kidnapping. He has now been held captive for three days, during which the abductors have reportedly made contact with his family, demanding an additional ransom for his release.

Senator Sani shared this distressing information on X, stating, “A retired school principal who volunteered to deliver ransom to kidnappers in order to secure the release of a victim has also been held by the kidnappers in Birnin Gwari LGA, Kaduna state.

He’s been in captivity for 3 days now; the abductors made calls to his family for his ransom.”

This development has instilled fear among the residents of Birnin Gwari, an area already grappling with frequent kidnappings and banditry.

The incident sheds light on the desperation faced by families caught in the crosshairs of criminal activity, often compelled to resort to desperate measures such as paying ransoms to ensure the safety of their loved ones.

Despite the gravity of the situation, authorities in Kaduna State have not yet provided comments on this specific incident.

Past efforts to address the kidnapping crisis have seen limited success, leaving many residents feeling vulnerable and without adequate protection.

The incident underscores the urgent need for more robust measures to curb the audacity of kidnappers and restore a sense of security to the affected communities.
