PTAD instructs FG pensioners to confirm their living status

The Pension Transitional Arrangement Directorate (PTAD) has decided to extend the “I Am Alive” verification scheme until February 29th, 2024.

In a memo released on Wednesday and signed by Dr. Chioma Ejikeme, the Executive Secretary of PTAD, the Corporate Communications Unit directed the Civil Service Pension Department (CSPD) to ensure the confirmation of the aliveness of pensioners under the Defined Benefit Scheme (DBS).

Commencing on July 1st, 2023, CSPD pensioners initiated the verification exercise with a six-month window to confirm their continued existence and eligibility to receive their monthly pension directly into their bank accounts.

To facilitate the active participation of all pensioners in this category, Dr. Ejikeme announced a one-month extension, moving the deadline for CSPD pensioners to confirm their aliveness to February 29th, 2024.

As part of this process, PTAD has shared the names of affected pensioners with the state branches and zonal offices of the Nigeria Union of Pensioners (NUP).

Additionally, letters and SMS notifications have been dispatched to inform the concerned pensioners about the verification process.

It is crucial to note that failing to confirm aliveness within this one-month grace period will result in CSPD pensioners being removed from the monthly pension payroll.

However, Dr. Ejikeme emphasized that these pensioners will be automatically reinstated to the payroll once they confirm their aliveness.

This extension aims to ensure that all CSPD pensioners have ample time to complete the verification process, and PTAD remains committed to maintaining an accurate and up-to-date pension payroll system.
