President Tinubu calls for rise in food production across Nigeria

Nigeria’s President, Bola Ahmed Tinubu, recently spoke about the importance of making sure Nigeria can feed its people and even have extra food to sell abroad.

He talked about this at the start of the Food Security and Agricultural Mechanization Programme in Niger State.

President Tinubu emphasized his government’s commitment to making sure there’s enough food and to supporting local industries for the country’s long-term economic growth.

At the event, he said, “We need to focus on making Nigeria a country where everyone has enough to eat, and we can also sell food to other countries. We must take action to solve the challenges we face and make Nigeria a place of opportunities for all. We should be able to provide meals for all students in our schools.”

He also mentioned the problem of cattle damaging crops and lands, and he suggested finding solutions to this issue.

Tinubu highlighted the importance of governors providing land for such solutions, and he promised to create programs to address these problems.

President Tinubu encouraged state governments to implement wage increases to help citizens cope with rising living costs.

He stressed that this would provide immediate relief until a new minimum wage is agreed upon.

Furthermore, he discussed plans for a student loan program to assist unemployed graduates and social security benefits for the elderly.

Tinubu stated that these measures would help alleviate hunger and improve the lives of Nigerians.

Governor Mohammed Umar Bago of Niger State expressed gratitude for the President’s support and highlighted the importance of agriculture for economic development.

He mentioned partnerships with other states and the government’s efforts to improve infrastructure and agriculture.

The Minister of Agriculture and Food Security, Senator Abubakar Kyari, shared information about agreements with international partners to provide funding for agricultural mechanization across Nigeria.

During his visit to Niger State, President Tinubu also met with former Nigerian Heads of State, General Ibrahim Badamasi Babangida, and General Abdulsalami Abubakar.
