Portugal Suspend Cristiano Ronaldo for 30 Days and Fine Him $285

—

Cristiano Ronaldo has reportedly been given a 30 day suspension and a fine of around $285 from Portuguese officials, the news came from A Bola, the country’s leading paper, which focuses on the all-time goalscorer for Portugal.

It has come as a surprise to many due to his importance to the national team, as well as its timing ahead of the international break in November.

Although the forward will be given a ban, he is unlikely to miss out on the upcoming international fixtures due to being eligible for selection during that time.

The News Chronicle reports that the Al Nassr forward is still a likely candidate for the upcoming fixtures as attention turns towards Portugal’s preparations for their next international matches.

The 41 year old forward is one of the most recognisable names across world football, having played an incredible career that has seen him score countless goals for his country, as well as featuring in numerous prestigious tournaments and leading his nation on numerous occasions.

It means that the forward’s presence continues to be crucial to Portugal as they look to continue to compete at the highest level of international football.

However, despite the report from A Bola, the paper stated that they were unable to provide any further details about the alleged reasons for the ban or what the charge may have been in relation to the fine.

For now, the main issue in the news is the fact that the forward will not miss out on the upcoming international fixtures.
