In Bauchi State, the police arrested a 19-year-old man named Muhammad Ibrahim. He is accused of killing his girlfriend, Emmanuella Ande, in Bayan Gari during a heated argument over N5000.

The police shared details in a bulletin, mentioning that Muhammad was taken into custody by officers from Operations Restore Peace (ORP). The incident occurred on December 18, 2023, around 7:00 PM.

According to the Police Public Relations Officer (PPRO), SP Ahmed Wakili, the arrest followed a distress call reporting an incident at Happiness Garden in Bayan Gari.

Muhammad Ibrahim allegedly entered a hotel room and stabbed Emmanuella Ande in the upper chest.

The victim screamed, and onlookers tried to help. They managed to open the door, but Muhammad also stabbed another person, Zaharaddeen Adamu, in the process.

Police officers intervened to prevent the crowd from harming the accused. Detectives quickly responded, rescued Muhammad, and took Emmanuella to Abubakar Tafawa Balewa University Teaching Hospital (ATBUTH), where she was confirmed dead.

Zaharaddeen, who was also injured, received treatment and was discharged, and Muhammad was treated at the police clinic before being discharged for investigation.

During questioning, Muhammad admitted to meeting Emmanuella on Facebook in 2023. He confessed to stealing N400,000 from his father to spend time with her.

The tragic incident unfolded when Emmanuella asked for N5,000 that Muhammad owed her from previous dealings. A heated argument turned physical, resulting in the fatal stabbing.

The authorities found a knife that was used in the incident when Muhammad was taken into custody.

The investigation is still in progress, and once it’s finished, Muhammad will be brought to court to answer charges.

The entire situation highlights the sad consequences of a disagreement that turned into a deadly incident. This emphasizes the importance of addressing conflicts peacefully to prevent such tragic outcomes.

It serves as a reminder of how disputes can escalate and result in severe consequences, underscoring the need for effective conflict resolution methods in our communities.
