Police Arrest Kebbi Inspector for Killing a 20-year-old Who Refused to Pay Bribe

The Kebbi State Police Command has announced the arrest and detention of Inspector Nura Ahmad, who allegedly killed a 20-year-old resident, Ahmed Ibrahim, for refusing to pay bribe.
The incident occurred when Inspector Ahmad, attached to CTU Base 18 in Zamfara State, demanded a bribe from Ahmed Ibrahim and subsequently shot him when he refused to comply.
The tragic event took place around noon on Wednesday in the Zamare area of Yauri Local Government Area, according to the victim’s brother, Jabir Ibrahim, who spoke to Newsmen.
Inspector Ahmad was reportedly on stop-and-search duty along the Zamare-Yauri road when the confrontation with Ahmed occurred.
Kebbi State Police Public Relations Officer, SP Nafiu Abubakar, confirmed the incident, stating, “As a result, the said police Inspector shot Ahmad Ibrahim in the chest. He was immediately rushed to General Hospital Yauri for treatment, where a medical doctor confirmed him dead.”
Following the incident, Inspector Ahmad was detained at the State Criminal Investigation Department (SCID) in Birnin Kebbi.
 SP Abubakar emphasized that a thorough investigation is underway to uncover the circumstances surrounding the confrontation and to address the Inspector’s unprofessional conduct.
“The Command is using this medium to condole with the immediate family, friends, and well-wishers of the late Ahmad Ibrahim. We pray for his soul to rest in peace and for his family to have the fortitude to bear this irreparable loss,” said Abubakar.
He assured the public that justice will be served, promising that the investigation’s findings will be made public in due course.
