Osun State Governor Ademola Adeleke has signed the N723 billion 2026 Appropriation Bill into law, setting the financial framework for the final year of his first term in office.
Deputy Governor Kola Adewusi and members of the State Executive Council watched Monday’s signing in Osogbo. While introducing new projects throughout important areas of the state economy, budget approval opens the road for sustained financing of present ones.
In line with Governor Adeleke’s five point development plan, the 2026 budget seeks to streamline governance changes and improve service delivery. He observed that the administration had concentrated on finishing unfinished projects, clearing salary and pension backlog, raising worker well-being, and resolving long-unpaid benefits over the previous three years.
As the government gets ready to round off its first term, The News Chronicle gathered that the new spending plan gives infrastructure, social services, and fiscal stability first priority. The governor also mentioned recent debt management successes, noting a significant decrease in Osun’s debt profile between 2022 and 2025.
Originally suggested in November at N705 billion, the budget was revised up to N723 billion following legislative examination and approved by the Osun State House of Assembly on December 23.
Now that the budget is in effect, the state administration is expected to speed project execution while keeping its emphasis on debt reduction, pension responsibilities and economic development prior to the 2026 fiscal year.
