Kaduna Abduction: No Dime Should Be Paid as Ransom -Tinubu

President Bola Tinubu has given the Committee on the Implementation of the Reports and White Papers on the Restructuring and Rationalization of Federal Government Parastatals, Agencies, and Commissions a 12-week deadline to finish and submit its report.

This was revealed by George Akume, Secretary to the Government of the Federation (SGF), during the Committee’s Thursday, President-appointed first meeting in Abuja.

In an effort to lower the cost of governance and streamline efficiency throughout the governance value chain, the President established the Committee to oversee the implementation of the White Papers on the report. This would entail the merger, relocation, subsumption, or elimination of certain parastatals, agencies, and commissions.

Twelve years after the Oronsaye panel published its findings and several attempts were made to put its recommendations into practice, President Tinubu has approved the study’s implementation.

The committee will be chaired by the Secretary to the Government of the Federation and will include Lateef Fagbemi, the Attorney General of the Federation and Minister of Budget and Economic Planning, as well as Special Advisor to the President for Policy and Coordination. This information was disclosed in a statement released by Segun Imohiosen, Director of Information at the SGF office.

Additional individuals include Hakeem Okunola, the President’s Principal Secretary, Richard Pheelangwah, the Permanent Secretary of the Cabinet Affairs Office, Abubakar Gumel, the President’s Senior Special Assistant on Senate matters related to the National Assembly, Kunle Olarewaju, the President’s Senior Special Assistant on House of Representatives matters, and Ibrahim Arabi, Director-General of the Bureau of Public Service Reform.

Akume delineated the overarching principles of the Committee, which encompassed an examination of extant mandates to comprehend the prevailing roles, obligations, and goals delineated in the agency mandates.

Determine any overlaps, conflicts, or duplications in the goals between the various organizational units’ mandates.

In order to make sure the updated mandates complement the government’s priorities and strategic goals, the committee must also establish strategic objectives.

The redrafted mandates for the organizations involved in the restructuring should be clear, concise, and actionable. Additionally, they should ensure that the revised mandates adhere to all applicable laws, regulations, and policies governing government operations. Other tasks include engaging key stakeholders and gathering input and feedback on the proposed revisions to the mandates.

The committee shall additionally secure the requisite authorizations from pertinent authorities for the updated directives, proficiently convey the updated mandates to staff members and interested parties, execute the updated directives skillfully, and oversee their execution to detect any problems or obstacles.
