Obi donates N30m to Anglican Mission University, emphasizes commitment to education

The presidential hopeful of the ADC, Peter Obi, over the weekend, visited Paul University Awka, where he donated ₦30 million in support of the institution’s development.

He was received by the proprietor of the university, Archbishop Alexander Ibezim, who expressed deep appreciation for the gesture, noting that the donation would go a long way in strengthening the school’s infrastructure and academic programmes.

The Archbishop also assured that the funds would be prudently managed and applied to projects that would directly benefit the students and the institution at large.

Speaking during the visit, Obi expressed satisfaction with the steady progress of the university, observing that each time he visits and tours the school, there is always visible and significant improvement.

He also advised the students to take their studies seriously, stressing that education remains the most reliable pathway to personal growth and national development.

In her remarks, the Deputy Vice-Chancellor of the University, Prof. Chinyere Okunna, described Obi as a consistent supporter of the institution.

She thanked him for his sustained generosity and continued interest in the growth of the university, adding that his interventions have continued to make a meaningful impact.

On a lighter moment before his departure, Obi interacted with youth corps members on campus, briefly joining them briefly in a game of football, drawing cheers and excitement from students and staff alike.
