The investigation led to the arrest of a woman identified as Khadija Aliyu, who was found in possession of the child. Police also arrested a hospital staff member, Sadik Sale Yahaya, who is alleged to have conspired with the woman in carrying out the abduction.
During interrogation, Khadija allegedly confessed that she had taken the child to an orphanage in Kaduna State, where she reportedly attempted to sell the toddler for N2 million.
The police said both suspects remain in custody as investigations continue to determine whether other individuals were involved in the alleged crime.
The Command added that the child will be reunited with the family after all necessary legal and investigative procedures have been completed.
The incident has sparked public concern, with authorities urging parents and guardians to remain vigilant while visiting hospitals and other public places with children.
