NPFL: Pillars secure 2-1 victory over Plateau United in Kano

On Sunday, Kano Pillars Football Club pulled off a remarkable comeback, securing a 2-1 victory against Plateau United at the Sani Abacha Stadium in Kofar-Mata, Kano. The match, part of the match day seven fixtures of the season, attracted a sizable crowd of spectators.

The turning point occurred in the 45th minute when Albert Hillary of Plateau United scored, giving the visitors the lead.

However, in the 75th minute, Haruna Abdullahi leveled the score for the home team. The thrilling match reached its climax in the 86th minute when Abdullahi Musa-Tayo’s header secured the maximum points for Kano Pillars.

In a post-match interview, Kano Pillars’ Head Coach, Abdullahi Maikaba, expressed that the victory was hard-fought, crediting Plateau United for proving to be formidable opponents.

Maikaba emphasized his team’s ability to capitalize on their chances, expressing joy in securing the three points.

“We are happy that we got the victory, it was a difficult game as both teams played well,” he explained.

Coach Kennedy Boboye of Plateau United acknowledged the defeat, acknowledging that Kano Pillars, led by an experienced coach, emerged as the better side.

Despite the loss, Boboye commended his players for their fighting spirit. He noted that after scoring the initial goal, his team momentarily relaxed, allowing the hosts to equalize.

Overall, the match showcased the competitive nature of both teams, leaving fans enthralled by the intense showdown on the field.
