Adamawa State Governor, Ahmadu Umaru Fintiri, has approved a new minimum monthly pension of N50,000 for retired civil servants in the state, declaring that no pensioner will earn below the new threshold from next month.
The governor made the announcement during a live programme on the Adamawa Broadcasting Corporation (ABC) in Yola, where he said the decision was aimed at improving the welfare of retirees who had dedicated years of service to the state.
Fintiri noted that the era of pensioners receiving less than N10,000 monthly was over, stressing that retired workers deserve a more dignified standard of living.
Beyond pension reforms, the governor assured residents that all ongoing projects initiated by his administration would be completed before the end of his tenure. These include the International Conference Hall, Mother and Child Hospital, NYSC Orientation Camp, shopping complex, and several other infrastructure projects.
He also disclosed that the dualisation of the Jimeta Bypass is scheduled to commence in October, while plans are underway to deliver 25 megawatts of solar power to improve electricity supply across Adamawa State.
The announcement has drawn attention as part of the state government’s broader efforts to improve social welfare and accelerate infrastructure development
