The Nigeria Immigration Service (NIS) is planning to establish a state-of-the-art training school in the Bichi Local Government Area of Kano North Senatorial District, Kano State.Â
This information was revealed during a courtesy visit by the Comptroller-General of the NIS, Wuraola Adepoju, to the Deputy Senate President, Jibrin Barau, at the National Assembly complex in Abuja on Thursday.
During the meeting, Senator Barau expressed his commitment to support the establishment of the training school, emphasizing the significance of the NIS to the country.
He assured the NIS boss that he would facilitate the entire process, from construction to equipping the school for the effective training and retraining of NIS personnel.
Senator Barau shared that he had been approached weeks earlier regarding the possibility of creating a modern NIS training facility in Bichi, Kano North.
Recognizing the crucial role of the NIS, he pledged to ensure the school’s successful establishment.
The proposed training center is intended to enhance the capabilities of NIS personnel, and its location is earmarked for Bichi Local Government Area in Kano North Senatorial District.
In response, Wuraola Adepoju, the NIS Comptroller-General, expressed gratitude for Senator Barau’s support.
She emphasized the vital role of training in manpower development, highlighting that even with advanced equipment, productivity would suffer without proper training.
The NIS, she mentioned, prioritizes training to maximize the effectiveness of the technology deployed for border surveillance.
Senator Barau’s commitment to facilitating the establishment of this training school is seen as a positive step toward enhancing the capabilities of the Nigeria Immigration Service, ultimately contributing to the safety and security of the country’s borders.
The NIS is grateful for the goodwill extended and is determined to continue its duties with the best possible training and technology.
