Nigerians Are Suffering: An Urgent Appeal to President Bola Tinubu for Immediate Action

Nigerians are currently grappling with severe challenges, including widespread hunger, insecurity, kidnapping, and soaring inflation, all under the administration of President Bola Tinubu.

The populace elected Tinubu and his vice president, Kashim Shettima, with hopes of a better future, but the reality has been starkly different.

Many feel that the current leadership is more focused on political maneuvers than addressing the pressing needs of the people.

The country is in turmoil, with citizens facing extreme hardship due to ineffective governance.

Hunger is rampant, with many unable to afford basic necessities. the North East is plagued by Boko Haram terrorist attacks, while the North West suffers from the menace of bandits.

These issues have led to significant loss of life and heightened insecurity across the nation.

President Tinubu recently urged Nigerians not to protest, but many believe that the situation has reached a breaking point.

Some even suggest that a coup, rather than protests, might be necessary to bring about change, arguing that leaders consistently fail to fulfill their promises to the people.

On Friday, President Tinubu approved a new minimum wage of N70,000. However, this decision has been met with skepticism.

A bag of rice currently costs over N75,000, making it nearly impossible for workers to afford food, rent, and school fees for their children on such a wage.

The cost of living remains prohibitively high, and the new minimum wage does little to alleviate the financial burden on Nigerian families.

Businesses are collapsing due to a lack of reliable electricity and the removal of subsidies by the federal government.

This economic strain has led to widespread job losses, particularly among recent graduates.

Despite these hardships, the government appears indifferent, using national resources for their own purposes while the masses struggle to survive.

President Tinubu needs to take urgent action. Nigerians are demanding more than promises on paper; they want tangible implementation of policies that will improve their lives.

Protests are scheduled to begin on August 1, 2024, under the banner “End Bad Government,” as a direct response to the growing hardships.

There are concerns that some politicians may exploit these protests by recruiting thugs to incite violence and attack government properties.

This could provide security agencies with a pretext to shoot innocent protesters, further escalating the crisis.

Education in Nigeria is also in a dire state. While politicians send their children abroad for schooling, the children of the masses face a severe lack of teachers and adequate facilities.

The government must address this educational collapse to ensure a brighter future for the nation.

Nigeria is at a critical juncture, likened to a sinking ship. Without immediate and effective intervention, the country’s situation will continue to deteriorate.

President Tinubu and his administration must wake up and face these challenges head-on, implementing real solutions to restore hope and stability for all Nigerians.
