Former Labour Party presidential candidate, Yusuf Datti Baba-Ahmed, has declared that only divine intervention can prevent President Bola Tinubu from securing re-election in the 2027 presidential election.
Baba-Ahmed made the remark during an interview with Trust TV monitored by The News Chronicle while discussing the political landscape ahead of the 2027 general elections.
According to him, the current political realities suggest that Tinubu remains firmly positioned for another term, despite the emergence of opposition coalitions and political realignments ahead of the election.
“Nigeria belongs to Tinubu; only God can stop his re-election,” Baba-Ahmed was quoted as saying.
His comment comes amid intensified manoeuvring among opposition parties and politicians seeking to challenge the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) and prevent Tinubu from securing a second term.
The former Labour Party vice-presidential candidate was the running mate to Peter Obi in the 2023 presidential election, which was won by Tinubu.
Baba-Ahmed’s latest assessment adds a fresh twist to the unfolding 2027 political contest, particularly as opposition figures continue efforts to build a formidable platform capable of defeating the APC at the polls.
