NFF distances self from Eguavoen’s reappointment as Eagles’ interim coach

The Nigeria Football Federation (NFF) has clarified that it has not considered reappointing Austin Eguavoen as the interim coach for the Eagles, despite rumors circulating on social media.

An anonymous staff member stated that Eguavoen’s name has not been discussed as a potential successor to Jose Peseiro. The source dismissed the idea as mere speculation, emphasizing that Eguavoen has not been mentioned in any capacity for the Super Eagles’ managerial position.

“There’s nothing for Eguavoen as far as I know, and, in fact, nobody ever mentioned him in any capacity for the Super Eagles,” the source said, adding that those thrusting Eguavoen forward for the job are only jokers.

“I think those guys are just joking. Nobody has mentioned Eguavoen as Super Eagles’ interim manager.”

Eguavoen currently serves as the NFF’s Technical Director, and while he previously held the role of interim manager for the Super Eagles in 2021, there are no plans to reinstate him in that capacity at present.
