Ned Nwoko Rejects Regina Daniels’ Drug Test Result, Says Issue Remains Before Court

Senator Ned Nwoko has rejected claims that a recent negative drug test taken by his estranged wife, actress Regina Daniels, clears her of past drug or alcohol use, saying the result only shows short-term abstinence and does not cancel earlier medical findings.

Daniels recently shared a video online showing her undergoing a drug test at a medical facility and later receiving the results. She said the test was done to clear her name and denied using hard drugs. “I did this test to clear my name,” she stated, insisting that she does not engage in drug use.

In response, Nwoko said the test does not invalidate previous assessments that allegedly showed evidence of drug and alcohol use. In a statement issued by his communication team, he said, “Presenting a later negative result as proof that no prior use occurred is misleading and disingenuous.” He added, “At best, it reflects abstinence over a period of time. It does not invalidate earlier medical reports, nor does it negate what necessitated intervention in the first place.”

The senator explained that earlier assessments were carried out by two independent and reputable centres, one within Nigeria and another outside the country. According to him, the reports were professionally conducted, formally documented and remain admissible in court. “These findings will be presented and defended in court, and the centres involved will testify if required,” the statement said.

Nwoko also addressed claims downplaying the seriousness of MDMA, commonly known as Molly. He said, “Renaming it does not alter its chemical composition, its risks, or its impact on judgment and stability.” He stressed that substance abuse should not be treated casually or explained away through public narratives.

Speaking on the broader dispute, Nwoko said efforts had been made to address the issue privately before it became public. “Long before this matter entered the public space, multiple avenues of support were explored, including private rehabilitation and structured therapy,” he said. He added that these steps were taken quietly to protect family stability and the wellbeing of the children involved.

The senator also referred to a court ruling that, according to him, granted him custody and dismissed what he described as unsubstantiated human rights abuse claims. He said the court ordered supervised therapy with proof of compliance, explaining that the approach was meant to encourage consistent healing rather than public confrontation.

“It is inaccurate to suggest consistent sobriety based on a single test taken at a time of one’s choosing,” he said. “Any test conducted anywhere in the world must be subjected to proper judicial scrutiny.”

The disagreement between the couple became public last year after Daniels appeared in a video accusing Nwoko of domestic violence, an allegation he denied.

Nwoko responded by alleging that Daniels was struggling with drug and alcohol addiction. Daniels later admitted to using drugs but accused him of contributing to her situation.

For now, the dispute remains before the court, with no final outcome announced.
