Anambra State Governor, Prof Chukwuma Soludo on Wednesday, reinforced the state’s security infrastructure with the handing over of thirty additional operational vehicles to the Nigeria Police, Anambra State Command.
The latest delivery is in addition to the one hundred and seventy vehicles handed over to various security agencies last year under the ‘Operation Udogachi’ initiative, underscoring the government’s commitment to enhancing public safety, improving rapid response capabilities, and sustaining peace across the state.
The presentation was made by Governor Soludo, at the Old Governor’s Lodge, Amawbia.
During the event, the State Commissioner of Police, CP Ikioye Orutugu, formally presented to the Governor, 28 Anambra indigenes, who recently passed-out as Assistant Superintendents of Police (ASPs), who have been posted to Anambra State, following the successful completion of their training at the Nigeria Police Academy, Wudil, Kano and Presidential commissioning into the Officers’ Cadre of the Nigeria Police Force.
Handing over the vehicles, Governor Soludo emphasized that the upgrade is part of a broader strategy aimed at ensuring the safety of lives and property, thereby creating an enabling environment for economic growth and social development.
The Governor highlighted the importance of equipping security personnel with the necessary tools to effectively patrol communities, respond swiftly to emergencies, and tackle security challenges, reaffirming his administration’s resolve to provide continuous support to security agencies, recognizing their vital role in sustaining peace and stability.
“This exercise is part of a series of initiatives by my administration to modernize the security framework in Anambra State, contributing toward a safer, more secure environment for all residents and investors.
“We are hoping that with the ongoing investments and collaborative partnerships between government and security agencies, Anambra will be poised to maintain its reputation as Nigeria’s most peaceful and secure states,” the governor said.
Receiving the officers, Governor Soludo urged them to uphold the ideals and values of Anambra State, charging them to truly embody the State’s slogan by being “a Light to the Nation” through exemplary service, discipline, and professionalism.
The Governor further emphasized the importance of dedication, integrity, and commitment to duty in sustaining peace and security.
Receiving the vehicles, CP Orutugu noted that the addition of the patrol vehicles, coupled with the deployment of the newly commissioned officers, will significantly enhance Police visibility, response time, and overall operational efficiency across the State.
He assured that the vehicles will be deployed appropriately for the purpose they were intended.
