The National Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA) has uncovered a secret laboratory producing “Colorado,” a synthetic type of cannabis, inside a residential building in Ajao Estate, Isolo, Lagos.
Officers arrested 30-year-old Stephen Kelechi Imoh, the alleged owner, and recovered large quantities of freshly-made drugs and chemicals used for production.
This breakthrough followed months of intelligence work after NDLEA intercepted locally-produced Colorado in Lagos in March and May 2025, a sign that the drug was now being made in Nigeria instead of being imported.
During the raid on Thursday, 30th October 2025, officers found 16.2kg of freshly-made Colorado, 1.7kg of cannabinol, 4.5kg of Potassium Carbonate, and 91 litres of Dibromobutane.
In another operation in Lagos on Saturday, 1st November, NDLEA raided Mushin and arrested 28-year-old drug dealer Afeez Salisu (a.k.a. Malu), recovering 16 blocks of “Ghana Loud,” another type of cannabis, and bottles and sachets of Colorado weighing 16.4kg.
Also in Lagos, a 20-year-old music artist known as Steady Boy (real name Godspower George Osahenrumwen) was arrested on Thursday, 30th October when he went to collect a shipment containing 140 bags of Loud cannabis weighing 77.20kg.
The drugs were hidden inside bathtub cartons imported from New York. His manager, known as Zee Money, is currently on the run.
NDLEA operations also extended across the country: In Kaduna, officers intercepted 84,710 tramadol capsules and later arrested the recipient.
In Taraba, 30,370 tramadol pills and 177g of methamphetamine were seized from two suspects transporting drugs from Onitsha to Yola.
Meanwhile, NDLEA continued drug education campaigns nationwide in schools, religious centres, and communities under its War Against Drug Abuse (WADA) programme.
NDLEA Chairman, Brig-Gen. Mohamed Buba Marwa (Rtd), praised officers for their dedication and assured that the agency will continue dismantling drug networks and confiscating assets linked to drug trafficking.
