Meta, the parent company of WhatsApp, has unveiled its plans to launch a verification system for businesses on the popular messaging platform.

The announcement was made during a press event, with details initially under embargo until Wednesday.

Nikila Srinivasan, Vice President of business messaging at Meta, shared the company’s vision for enhancing user-business interactions on WhatsApp.

Meta’s initiative aims to provide users with assurance that they are engaging with legitimate businesses.

To achieve Meta verification, businesses will be required to prove their authenticity to Meta.

In return, they will receive a coveted verified badge, enhanced account support, and protection against impersonation.

According to Meta’s Vice President, Nikila Srinivasan, “Meta Verified will offer businesses a range of premium features, including the ability to create a customized WhatsApp page that can be easily discovered through web searches.

Additionally, it will support multi-device functionality, allowing multiple employees to respond to customer inquiries effectively.”

The company plans to commence testing Meta Verified with small businesses using the WhatsApp Business app, with intentions to expand the feature to businesses on the WhatsApp Business Platform in the near future.

In addition to the verification system, Meta also revealed the introduction of “Flows,” a feature designed to enable businesses to offer their full range of services without users having to leave the chat.

With Flows, businesses will have the capability to provide users with rich menus and customizable forms to cater to diverse needs.

This feature will soon be available to businesses worldwide using the WhatsApp Business Platform, enhancing the convenience and efficiency of customer interactions.
