Afrobeats star Mayowa Emmanuel, popularly known as Mayorkun, is celebrating a decade in the music industry.
The singer announced the milestone on Monday through his verified X account, sharing a series of photos with a simple but symbolic message. “10 years! 1 Mayor,” he wrote.
Mayorkun’s rise to fame began in 2016 after signing with Davido Music Worldwide (DMW), the record label founded by Nigerian music star Davido.

He shot into the spotlight that same year with his breakout hit, “Eleko,” which established him as one of Afrobeats’ most promising talents.
Since then, the singer has released two successful studio albums—The Mayor of Lagos (2018) and Back in Office (2021)—along with several chart-topping singles.
In 2021, Mayorkun exited DMW to pursue an independent career. Since then, he has continued to release new music and perform at concerts across Nigeria and internationally, maintaining his place as one of Afrobeats’ leading acts.
