FG to Announce Fresh Salary Increase for Military Personnel – Defence Minister

The Minister of Defence, General Christopher Musa (retd.), has disclosed that President Bola Ahmed Tinubu will soon announce a new salary increase for personnel of the Nigerian Armed Forces as part of ongoing efforts to improve their welfare.
Speaking at a one-day training and financial empowerment workshop for widows and wives of service personnel at Lungi Barracks in Abuja, Musa said the Federal Government remained committed to rewarding troops for their sacrifices in defending the country.
He recalled that the monthly allowance for soldiers was increased from N49,000 to N100,000 about two years ago, adding that the government was working on another upward review.

According to him, President Tinubu understands the challenges faced by military personnel and is committed to ensuring they receive better remuneration.
The minister also reaffirmed the government’s commitment to supporting military families, noting that stable and economically empowered families contribute to the effectiveness of the armed forces.
At the event, organised by the Ministry of Defence in collaboration with SMEDAN, the agency’s Director-General, Charles Odii, announced the disbursement of N25 million to 500 widows and wives of soldiers serving in frontline operations to support entrepreneurship and small businesses.
He said the initiative aligns with the Federal Government’s broader enterprise development programme under President Tinubu’s administration.
