A 26-year-old man, Ayibiowo Fasola, was on Wednesday ushered into the dock at an Ado-Ekiti Chief Magistrates’ Court to answer allegations of indecent conduct and assault.
Fasola, said to have no fixed address, is facing a two-count charge bordering on gross indecency and physical assault.
Prosecuting counsel, Insp. Olubu Apata, told the court that the accused, alongside another suspect who is still on the run, allegedly carried out the offences on January 14, 2026, at about 8:30 p.m. in Ilupeju-Ekiti.
Apata alleged that the defendant unlawfully touched the body of one Miss Adaramoye Oluwaferanmi, an act he described as gross indecency, and further assaulted her in the process.
He explained that Fasola, who works as a security officer at the university where the complainant studies, reportedly encountered her outside the campus and attacked her over what he considered indecent dressing.
According to the prosecutor, the alleged acts run foul of Sections 150 and 185 of the Ekiti State Criminal Law, 2021. He asked the court for an adjournment to allow him time to review the case file and line up witnesses.
The defendant, however, pleaded not guilty, setting the stage for a full trial.
Defence counsel, Mr Timi Omotosho, appealed to the court to admit his client to bail, assuring that Fasola would be available whenever the court beckons.
Ruling on the application, Chief Magistrate Mrs Taiwo Ajibade granted the defendant bail in the sum of N20,000, with one surety in like amount.
She adjourned the matter till February 23 for hearing.
