Makinde Meets Families of Oriire Abduction Victims, Pledges Intensified Efforts

Oyo State Governor, Seyi Makinde, has met with families of victims abducted in the recent attack at Oriire, assuring them that government and security agencies are intensifying rescue efforts to ensure the safe return of their loved ones.

During the meeting, Makinde expressed sympathy with the families and condemned the abduction, describing it as a threat to public safety in the state.

The governor assured the families that no effort would be spared in securing the release of those still in captivity. He said security operations in the Oriire area and surrounding axis have been scaled up, with increased collaboration between police, local hunters, and other security stakeholders.

“Your pain is our pain. We are working round the clock with security agencies to intensify rescue efforts and ensure your loved ones return home safely,” Makinde told the families, according to a statement from his office.

Residents of Oriire and the Oke-Ogun area have reported a rise in kidnapping incidents in recent months. The state government said it remains committed to tackling violent crimes and urged citizens to provide credible information that can aid security operations.

The meeting comes days after security forces recorded successes against kidnappers in Otu, Oke-Ogun axis, with the neutralization of suspects and rescue of an abducted victim.
